NewNet's SMserver and Router

The NewNet SMserver and SMS Router leverages NewNet’s core competence in developing and deploying network-proven, telecom-hardened messaging products. SMserver helps wireless carriers differentiate and generate new revenue from short messaging services. Carriers can offer new services using NewNet SMserver’s open programming interfaces and gateways to applications. Its unique, market-based service administration feature with per-service billing support provides revenue assurance to carriers. In addition, NewNet SMserver’s scalable, self-optimizing open system architecture helps carriers protect their investment and minimize operational costs and can be deployed simultaneously on GSM and IS-41 networks.

The NewNet SMserver is designed to be:

• Powerful and Scalable. The NewNet SMserver combines the memory and processor scalability of today's UNIX platforms with object-oriented, kernel-resident design and development techniques to achieve high-performance and scalability. The software can be scaled to support more than 10 million subscribers and over 600 message delivery attempts per second on a single node. The network interface can be scaled to support up to 512 SS7 links.

• Cost-effective. The NewNet SMserver is designed to grow as the network grows. The pricing reflects the modular architecture and performance scalability, and offers the greatest level of flexibility in purchasing performance increments and additional services making it possible to support small networks as well as large.

• Reliable. The NewNet SMserver can be deployed on Sparc or x86 NEBs level 3 compliant hardware with High Availability on NewNet’s own Distributed7 SS7 application platform. It also provides a software monitoring and recovery subsystem to keep the system in operation even when a catastrophic fault occurs. In this sense, the system is “self-healing” and recovers from faults by restarting software.
