IWF-BRICKS POTS

Netbricks Line of Protocols for NGN and IMS Signaling

Enea offers a wide range of highly portable telecom protocol stacks for TDM, 3G, IMS, and NGN networks, as well as fax and data transfer protocols and signal processing and analysis software. All Enea Netbricks protocols stacks are compliant with ITU, ETSI, ANSI, IETF, 3GPP, and many other standards bodies’ specifications.
All of Enea Netbricks protocols are written in ANSI C and take advantage of a modular, portable architecture that allows hardware platform and compiler independence. Enea Netbricks protocols are provided in source code to over 400 network equipment providers (NEPs), and device OEMs worldwide, assisting them in getting products to market quickly, with very low risk and significantly reduced development costs.

ENEA has used its unchallenged expertise in signalling protocols for TDM domain as well as for NGN networks to develop a range of products named IWF-Bricks that implement protocol interworking between specific TDM signalling and SIP the unanimously adopted signalling protocol for NGN. This range includes:

IWF-Bricks POTS for interworking between FXS and SIP
IWF-Bricks PSTN for interworking between FXP and SIP
IWF-Bricks 3G 324 for interworking between 3G 324 multi media session control protocols and SIP
IWF-Bricks ISDN for interworking between ISDN or QSIG protocols and SIP.

Overview

IWF-Bricks POTS is a software module that specifically addresses inter working between signaling as generated by a phone connected to an analogue line (FXO interface) and SIP protocol. This inter working is operated in compliance with ETSI TiSpan and 3GPP standards. IWF-Bricks POTS is typically part of gateways implementations that need be IMS compliant: like residential gateways or infrastructure access gateways..

IWF-Bricks POTS relies on ENEA Netbricks IMS compliant implementation of SIP and named SIP-Bricks.

Features/Benefits

  • Dramatically reduces time to market for access and residential gateways
  • Extensive list of telephony supplementary services supported
  • Extensive management and media API for quick integration with customer
  • Compliance with the latest standards
  • Strong inter working tests with a wide variety of IMS compliant equipments (P-CSCF, TAS)
  • Can be combined with MGC-Bricks H.248 to supply inter working module in media gateway controllers and soft switch
  • Gateway or MGC simulation tool for tests in lab is part of standard supply
  •

    Specifications

IWF-Bricks POTS implements interworking between POTS events and SIP protocol based on ETSI standard TS 183 043 (IMS based PSTN/ISDN Emulation) and 3GPP TS 24.628 (Release 8): Common Basic Communication procedures; Protocol specification.

IWF-Bricks POTS implements IP multi media call control behavior on SIP side in compliance with ETSI ES 283 003 (endorsing 3GPP TS 24.229 release 7) now replaced by ETSI ES 124 503 (3GPP TS 24.503 Release 8).

IWF-Bricks POTS implements also capabilities to support services equivalent to telephony supplementary services.
The following supplementary services are implemented based on the following relevant standards:

    • Call Priority
    • Call intrusion
    • Advice of charge (AOC) 3GPP TS 24.447
    • Three ways call - conference 3GPP TS 24.605 (Rel. 8)
    • Call waiting 3GPP TS 24.615 (Rel. 8)
    • Call Hold / Resume 3GPP TS 24.610 (Rel. 8)
    • Calling Line Identification Presentation / restriction (CLIP/CLIR – OIP/OIR) 3GPP TS 24.607 (Rel. 8)
    • Call Completion on Busy Subscriber (CCBS)
    • Call Completion by No Reply (CCBNR) 3GPP TS 24.642 (Rel. 8)
    • Message Waiting Indication (MWI) Future Release
    • Explicit Call Transfer Future Release
    • Call Forwarding Unconditional Future Release
    • Malicious Call Identification (MCID) 3GPP TS 24.616 (Rel. 8)
